Latin salsa evening

After a rollicking debut gig at the end of last year, ‘Oye Vamos’ return for Latin Night at the Picturedrome.

Playing a mix of latin classics like ‘Oye Como Va’ and ‘Watermelon Man’ , lesser known Cuban songs and New York Boogaloo that are guaranteed to float the boat of hardcore salsa aficionados as well as anyone up for a party. Come along to strut your stuff, shake your booty or do what you have to do to have a good time.

Doors open at 7:30 and the evening will kick off soon after with a Salsa Dancing session run by Martin from New Mill Salsa Class.

The band will then take the stage to knock out some sweet latin music all their own.

Letz Zep

Letz Zep are now critically acclaimed as the leading tribute to the music of Led Zeppelin. And Baby they aint foolin. The band have been featured on BBC1, BBC2, ITV1 and reviewed in the Sunday Times by Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson. Even Robert Plant has seen the band perform, 'I walked in, I saw me' was his comment. Letz Zep received the ultimate accolade recently when they were invited to perform at the official launch party for the Led Zeppelin 'Mothership' CD, in London. A not to be missed show.

Burt's Burlesque Beauties!

The Memorial - In aid of The Alzheimer's Society - Research.

Last year, the event 'Bert's Burlesque Beauties' graced the Holmfirth Picturedrome to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the Alzheimer's Society Charity. The evening was a huge success and helped to raise a total of £6452.70 for both local and national Alzheimer's branches.

Last year, the event was inspired by Bert Jones, a local resident and police officer in the Holme Valley. When he was in his last stages of the disease, the family wanted to make a positive contribution to what was a difficult hurdle.

Unfortunately, Bert passed away on 4th December 2009 at the age of 78 so the family have dedicated the event this year to be in his memory and hopefully increase the amount of funds rasied than last year. All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Research in London.

Rachael McShane, best known as the cellist, singer, fiddle player (and only girl!) in 11-piece folk big-band Bellowhead, is now embarking on a solo career. Her stunning debut album ‘No Man’s Fool’ was released on Navigator Records in August 2009.

Rachael has toured internationally with Bellowhead, as well as making TV appearances performing on Later with Jools Holland (alongside Thom Yorke and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms 2008.

She is also one of eight artists involved in the Darwin Song Project, working alongside other folk singers including Chris Wood, Karine Polwart and Emily Smith to write songs celebrating the bi-centennial of Charles Darwin.

The Clone Roses

The Clone Roses are now regarded by many as the UK's No1 Tribute to Manchester legends "The Stone Roses". The Clone Roses have the looks and sounds of The Stone Roses and include all the classics in their set such as: Waterfall, Fools Gold and I am the Resurrection.

Lead singer Gavin Scott's voice has been described as "uncannily" like the real thing and the band do an expert job of recreating the vibe of a Stone Roses concert. Being from the North West, the band has the authenticity of a Stone Roses show that no other Roses Tribute can compete with!!

The band have recently done a number of huge successful shows with support DJ's such as Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets), Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays) and Bez (Happy Mondays) and their shows regularly attract large audiences.

Taking London by storm, they sped through Europe and conquered the UK with No 1 chart success, before imploding just as punk was born and America beckoned with open arms.
